Here are some ideas that might help make it easier to eat a healthy diet during stroke recovery.
Reduce Saturated Fats:The primary goal of a healthy diet for stroke victim should be to reduce consumption of saturated fats,which should be limited to 8-10 percent of total caloric intake.Drink non-fat milk,or skimmed milk instead of whole milk,cut down intake of butter and fatty cheeses and eat white meat(turkey,chicken & fish without skin)instead of red meat.
Decease Cholesterol Intake:Stroke victims should reduce their intake of diary products and meats,and eat more vegetables & fruits.Also egg yolks should be avoided,but egg white are perfectly healthy.
Cut Down On Salt:Limit salt intake.Use other method that are salt-free to season food,like spices,herbs juices such as orange & lemon.Make sure the stroke patients avoids proceesed food such as processed snacks & brine food which usually have high level of salt.Cut down on white bread,biscuits,pasteries,cakes & white rice.These food are rice in calories which get stored in the body as fat when not used.This fat accumulates in the blood stream,too,making the heart pump harder & making it more difficult for the brain to receive oxygen.
Shun Alcohol:There is a good chance that medications taken after a stroke will interact with alcohol,thereby altering their desired effects,worse still,alcohol is known to increase blood pressure for these two reason it should be avoided.
